Marinetti Founder of Futurism
 (Milan)
12 Feb - 7 Jun 2009
2009 marks the centenary of Futurism and Milan's Fondazione Stelline contributes to the celebrations with Marinetti Founder of Futurism, an exhibition that rediscovers key moments in Marinetti's career and his role in the development of the literary and artistic current.

Marinetti Founder of Futurism offers several works by various artists, including masterpieces like Sotto il pergolato a Napoli by Umberto Boccioni (pictured), Spazzolridente by Giacomo Balla and Marinetti's own Parolibere collection.

Poet, writer and editor, Filippo Tommaso Marinetti is most famous for his Manifesto, published in Le Figaro on 20 February 1909. It was this paper which 100 years ago gave rise to Futurism, a movement that rejected the past, celebrated speed, machinery and industry, and fuelled the modernisation and cultural rejuvenation of Italy.
